EDI Integration

EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) interface is a commonly used standard.

IFD Engineering Ltd. has experience and realizes integration with various interfaces and not only to Microsoft Dynamics ™ NAV systems and our Add-On solutions. The import of data is continuous and easy to trace, as this is ensured by recording the input-output operations in the so-called log files. The process also includes active notification when the expected data import does not arrive within the specified time interval.

Data format

Developing our own interface formats is mainly based on our product standards in our Navision EDI interface, also with the specific client requirements. All popular data formats are used, e.g. EDI, XML, text files, web files and specific file formats.

Automated import

The advantage of the automated data import is that no user manual input or settings are needed and that the data is transferred automatically. Only in case of an error in importing the relevant documents are marked for preview and manual check is required, alongside with data correction before the next transfer. Our experience shows that an active data protocol optimizes the workflow.

Records and messages

When the automated import goes with no errors, no administrative work is created for the users. It is useful to have user notification for successfully imported data, in case that it has to be additionally processed. In case of an error, the messages are differentiated and are addressed to different users according to the type of error – technical or from the competency of a relevant trade department.

The combination of highly productive electronic interface for the ERP system Microsoft Dynamics ™ NAV and a precise monitoring mechanism leads to a sustainable solution for data exchange with a high degree of reliability.

Data conversion and distribution

While the small and middle volume of data can be processed by using the ERP system functionality or additional server combination, the big data package transfer requires conversion scenarios and a special system. Our experience points out Microsoft BizTalk ™ Server as a solution when big data package transfers with individual conversion transfers are the case.
